It wasn't something he learned from a video clip or read from a book. Like the real Bluesmen, Neal black has lived his Blues : true stories of hard times in Texas (after a "disagreement" with the local Sheriff and Judge), loneliness in New York City, homesick in Mexico ... The Blues of Neal Black is sung with a voice that's somewhere between Tom Waits and Howling Wolf after a carton of Marlboro. The Blues of Neal Black is colored with dark rage, sweet melancholy and drenched in smoking guitarwork that burns like a Tequila Sunrise.
Mason Casey is a dynamic, bold and truly unique harmonica player, singer and songwriter. Mason’s music reflects the bare bones, raw and powerful energy that is distinctive to New York, where he was born and raised. Though now living in Los Angeles, it is in New York where he crafted his style of soulful Blues that mixes Modern Blues with elements of Soul, Funk, RnB, Acid Jazz and Latin American rhythms.

Asser Bluesdagen: Big Blind - zondag 31 januari (18:00 uur) Big Blind is een jonge, energieke bluesband uit Noordwijk. De band is in de herfst van 2006 opgericht met als doel smerige, rauwe en opwindende blues te maken. Muziek die de oren…nee, alle poriën van je lijf binnendringt en de ademhaling en hartslag overneemt. Big Blind haalt inspiratie uit oude- maar ook hedendaagse (blues)muziek en hoeft niet geforceerd origineel te zijn.

Todd Wolfe band - zondag 21 februari (18.00 uur) |
Na de releases ‘Borrowed Time’ en ‘Stripped Down At The Bang Place’ in 2009 tourt Todd Wolfe evenals vorig jaar in de lente weer door Europa. Ze zijn in Europa vanaf 19 februari tot 3 april 2010 (zie onderstaand tourschema). Wederom een zeer uitgebreide periode verdeelt over de landen als Duitsland, Zwitserland en Oostenrijk. In dit tijdbestek zal Todd Wolfe & Band ruim dertig optredens verzorgen.

De kruidige mix van jump, jive, boogie, rockabilly, Westkust ritmes, beklijvende balladen en diepgewortelde Mississippi blues, sappig aangezoet met een eigen sausje, laat de gemiddelde toeschouwer niet onberoerd.
Dat deze vier muzikanten niet hebben stilgezeten sinds het startschot van The Wildcards kan gestaafd worden aan de hand van twee uitstekende cd’s, een Europese tournee met de erg betreurde Gary Primich en een naar huidige normen goed gevulde agenda. Een geluk bij een ongeluk, de teloorgang van de The Nightporters in 2002 zorgde voor het ontstaan van dit uitzonderlijk goed spelende kwartet.

The Duke Robillard band - zondag 7 maart (18:00 uur) |

Duke Robillard is een blueslegende in Amerika. Geboren op 4 oktober 1948, Woonsocket, Rhode Island, richt hij in 1967 de legendarische swingbluesband Roomful Of Blues op.
Tot 1979 blijft hij bij de groep, die zijn tijd ver vooruit is met de swing bluesvorm zoals ze die creëert. Na zijn vertrek richt hij een eigen band op: The Pleasure Kings. Ook werkt hij samen met rockabillyster Robert Gordon en maakt hij twee platen met The Legendary Blues Band (met voormalige leden van de Muddy Water’s Band) en vervangt hij in 1990 Jimmy Vaughan bij The Fabulous Thunderbirds.
